Description

Every Tuesday in Laissac is livestock market day! Laissac has a very old commercial tradition. The first fair in Laissac was created in 1422 by the local lord, Amaury de Séverac. Fifteen years later, in 1437, King Charles VII created a second one. Between 1793 and 1939, sixteen fairs were held. The fairs, which were initially monthly, were replaced on October 12, 1977, by a livestock market organized every two weeks. Very quickly, starting in September 1979, the Laissac fair became weekly. The sheep market was created in 1979; the cover for the area was completed in 1981 (covered area: 3,000 m²). The cover for the cattle market was completed in 1984 (covered area: 8,000 m²). The parking area around the market spans 50,000 m².
