Presentation delivered at the international conference on milk as a driver of development in Senegal in May 2026. The aim of this presentation is to provide an overview of the challenges, references, and studies on enteric methane emissions in livestock farming in West Africa and France, in order to identify possible lines of work: the scale of methane emissions in livestock farming; research programs on methane in livestock farming; methodological approaches and the complementarity of the work.
