Bovine tuberculosis remains a very real threat in southwestern France, despite the country’s officially disease-free status. Often invisible in animals, it can affect any farm and have a lasting impact on an operation. Through the combined perspectives of two GDS directors (Dordogne and Pyrénées-Atlantiques) and the testimony of a farmer who has faced two outbreaks, this session explores the disease, its routes of transmission, and its concrete consequences. It also presents the current control strategy and emerging prospects: wildlife surveillance, vaccination, and new screening tools. An interactive discussion will give participants practical reference points to help protect their herds.
