According to the “One Welfare” principle, animal welfare, farmers’ well-being and environmental protection are intrinsically linked. Improving animal welfare often also helps improve working conditions and farmers’ well-being. However, it can sometimes be experienced as an additional constraint on top of other challenges, affecting farmers’ daily well-being: economic difficulties, lack of societal recognition, issues around farm transfer and generational renewal, and more. Through field testimonies, data from scientific research, and a broader reflection on the meaning of livestock farming work, this round table invites participants to reconnect animal welfare with farmers’ well-being.
