Pastoralism in the face of the challenges of the 21st century
Present for thousands of years, pastoralism is the oldest form of agriculture known in the world. It has adapted, evolved, and overcome difficulties, and remains today a living and recognized form of livestock farming.
But today’s challenges are unprecedented in scale: climate change, animal health, access to water and land, changing societal expectations, geopolitical conflicts...
How are these realities experienced across the world? What solutions are emerging? What concerns exist, but also what hopes?
From Mongolia to Africa, via France, the speakers will share their experience and their vision for the future of pastoralism.
Speakers:
French Pastoralism Association
CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development)
Delegation from Mongolia
Delegation from Côte d’Ivoire
