As heatwaves become increasingly frequent and intense, agrivoltaics is emerging as an effective climate adaptation solution for livestock farming. By providing shade for animals while preserving grazing land, BayWa r.e.’s agrivoltaic installations help improve animal welfare, generate a stable additional source of income for farmers, and provide livestock infrastructure free of charge. During this conference on Thursday 8 October from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, BayWa r.e. will share insights and lessons learned from two concrete projects: a sheep agrivoltaic park in France and a cow agrivoltaic installation developed in partnership with Nestlé in Biessenhofen, Germany. The session will provide an opportunity to discuss the benefits observed in the field, including improved animal welfare, easier access to secured and fenced grazing areas, and the provision of livestock infrastructure, as well as the key success factors for delivering agrivoltaic projects that support livestock farmers.
