The Thermopod project aims to develop and test a fixed, automated system for detecting hoof lesions in cattle and sheep using infrared thermography (IR). Its goal is to provide a solution capable of detecting hoof lesions in animals that are contained but not restrained, without lifting cattle’s feet or turning over ewes, in a reliable and safe way for both the animal and the farmer. According to the “One Welfare” principle, animal welfare, farmers’ well-being and environmental protection are intrinsically linked. Improving animal welfare often also helps improve working conditions and farmers’ well-being. However, it can sometimes be experienced as an additional constraint on top of other challenges, affecting farmers’ daily well-being: economic difficulties, lack of societal recognition, issues around farm transfer and generational renewal, and more. Through field testimonies, data from scientific research, and a broader reflection on the meaning of livestock farming work, this round table invites participants to reconnect animal welfare with farmers’ well-being.

The combination of GEIDEL and BAOBA brings together two complementary areas of expertise for livestock farmers. It is a paradox: cereal yields appear to stagnate in the field, and yet, when the varietal effect is isolated from environmental and technical factors, genetic progress proves to be both real and continuous. Through multi-year experimental datasets, this conference will explore the multiple dimensions of genetic progress: increased crop potential, enhanced resistance to pests and diseases, adaptation to climatic constraints, maintenance of quality, and responsiveness to market demands. According to the “One Welfare” principle, animal welfare, farmers’ well-being and environmental protection are intrinsically linked. Improving animal welfare often also helps improve working conditions and farmers’ well-being. However, it can sometimes be experienced as an additional constraint on top of other challenges, affecting farmers’ daily well-being: economic difficulties, lack of societal recognition, issues around farm transfer and generational renewal, and more. Through field testimonies, data from scientific research, and a broader reflection on the meaning of livestock farming work, this round table invites participants to reconnect animal welfare with farmers’ well-being.

According to the “One Welfare” principle, animal welfare, farmers’ well-being and environmental protection are intrinsically linked. Improving animal welfare often also helps improve working conditions and farmers’ well-being. However, it can sometimes be experienced as an additional constraint on top of other challenges, affecting farmers’ daily well-being: economic difficulties, lack of societal recognition, issues around farm transfer and generational renewal, and more. Through field testimonies, data from scientific research, and a broader reflection on the meaning of livestock farming work, this round table invites participants to reconnect animal welfare with farmers’ well-being.

According to the “One Welfare” principle, animal welfare, farmers’ well-being and environmental protection are intrinsically linked. Improving animal welfare often also helps improve working conditions and farmers’ well-being. However, it can sometimes be experienced as an additional constraint on top of other challenges, affecting farmers’ daily well-being: economic difficulties, lack of societal recognition, issues around farm transfer and generational renewal, and more. Through field testimonies, data from scientific research, and a broader reflection on the meaning of livestock farming work, this round table invites participants to reconnect animal welfare with farmers’ well-being.

According to the “One Welfare” principle, animal welfare, farmers’ well-being and environmental protection are intrinsically linked. Improving animal welfare often also helps improve working conditions and farmers’ well-being. However, it can sometimes be experienced as an additional constraint on top of other challenges, affecting farmers’ daily well-being: economic difficulties, lack of societal recognition, issues around farm transfer and generational renewal, and more. Through field testimonies, data from scientific research, and a broader reflection on the meaning of livestock farming work, this round table invites participants to reconnect animal welfare with farmers’ well-being.

The Bovalherb project aims to propose grass-based finishing strategies for suckler females that deliver multiple forms of performance, including in terms of meat quality, in order to meet societal expectations while creating added value across the sector. Discover the results obtained for the different strategies tested: zootechnical performance, carcass quality, fatty acid composition of the meat, sensory evaluations of the meat by expert and consumer panels, and positioning in terms of multiperformance.
